History ![]() |
Le Château de la Grange is a family owned Cognac producing company founded by Louis Bouron in 1832. It is one of the oldest Cognac domaine in France having remained in the same family for 5 generations. In 1867, Cognac Louis Bouron acquired its present dimensions of 250 hectares, comprised of 4 properties spread over three of the six growths (cru) which constitute official Cognac region: |
La Richonnerie near Chérac and La Motte near Saint-Sulpice; these properties (40 hectars) are situated in the Borderies growths (cru). |
La Péraudrie near Jonzac; in the Petite Champagne (40 hectars) |
|
La Grange on the outskirts of Saint-Jean d'Angély; in the Fins Bois. It is here that the Château de la Grange is located. Each of the growths has its own characteristics and, when assembled, they enable the production of one of the best ranges of Cognac available. The Château itself is situated 30 km north west of the town of Cognac. It is here that the last stages of aging and blending take place, prior to bottling. Built around an ancient tower from the 14th century, and another from the 15th, the Château's appearance immediately suggests the generations, since Louis Bouron, that have contributed to perfect the family's own art in the production of a great Cognac. |
