How to get there: walking

Cognac and Pineau des Charentes region 

This is a walker friendly country. As all roads lead to Cognac, Jarnac and Segonzac, we choose these starting points: Angouleme, Pons, La Rochelle, St. Jean d'Angely and Saintes. For detail foot paths maps call Comité Départemental de Randonnée Pédestre at (+33) 05 46 90 16 45.

To Jarnac Take D72 out of the city, cross Charente river around La Touche and continue parallel the river. About 10 km later, take D84 direction St. Simeux. Continue on D22 direction Vibrac, then to Bassac and Triac-Lautrait until you come to N141. Turn direction Jarnac. It is about 25 km through the vineyards, along side the river.

From Jarnac to Segonzac Cross the Charente river in direction of Cognac. 4 km later turn into D736 direction Segonzac (8 km). You will be walking among the Grande Champagne vineyards.

From Jarnac to Cognac Take N141 and about 4 km later turn off at Bourg-Charente. Follow the river to la Maurie, St. Brice and onto Cognac. In total it is about 12 km.

From Cognac To Segonzac Take D49 to Gensac la Pallue (8 km) and onto Segonzac, for another 5 km.

To Cognac Take D732 through Bougneau, Perignac, le Pérat, Montignac to Cognac (about 35 km). To St. Jean d'Angely Take D939 direction Angouleme. At la Jarne (5 km) take D111 to Salles sur Mer. Continue to Mortagne, Thaire, Ardilliéres (about 15 km). In le Gaé Charrau take D117 to Muron where you pick up D112 to Tonnay-Boutonne (14 km). From here, continue on D120 E to Cornebouc, la Vergne and into St. Jean d'Angely (10 km). To Burie Take D120 to le Puits d'Asnieres, continue to St. Meme, Ebeon, Authon, Migron and on D131 to Burie. Its about 20 km along the fabulous vineyards .

From Burie to Cognac Take D145 to Maltbetau, St.Sulpice de Cognac, at les Chaudroles you will cross D731 direction Javrezac to Cognac. Its about 14 km.

To Cognac Take D24 to Chaniers and continue alongside the Charente river passing by Chauveau, Orloc, Dompierre sur Charente to le Treuil. 4 km later take N141 for another 4.5 km and you will reach Cognac.
